Accommodation

 

As a volunteer in the AVN Program, your accommodations are included with your program fee from the Sunday preceding the start of your volunteer placement to the Sunday following the end of your volunteer placement.

 

YOUR STAY IN PHNOM PENH

All volunteers of AVN that work in Phnom Penh will have two options to stay at the volunteer guesthouse or home stay.

 

  • Volunteer Guesthouse

The guesthouse is located in the center of Phnom Penh and are within minutes of many of the major tourist attractions. The guest houses feature large roof decks for lounging, restaurants servicing local and western cuisine, Wi-Fi, computers, bicycles for free rental, and laundry service. Additionally, bus tickets to almost anywhere in Cambodia and select locations in Vietnam and Thailand can be purchased for those that wish to travel on the weekends or after their service has ended. Most volunteers share room with other volunteers, however, private rooms can be booked for those that desire.  

 

 

Welcome to the AVN Volunteer House!

 

The AVN Volunteer House have just renovated to be the most comfortable and convenience for the volunteer to stay where it just feel like their home.The house is located very close to the Russian Market and volunteer can walk just only around 5min.

 

The volunteer house have electricity, cool & hot water and WiFi access. The bathroom is inside all rooms. Bedrooms are comprised of single beds and bunk beds with bedding provided. The house also has a dining area downstairs, a living room with TV & books. Volunteers can expect to share a room with one or two other volunteers.

 

 

 

Meals

Volunteers are provided with three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Breakfast generally consists of bread, omelet, and coffee. A typical lunch and dinner includes rice or noodles with fried vegetables and meat. Volunteer can order food for the menu. Sometime for the dinner we a range of Khmer dishes in the volunteer house. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know when you apply for the program so we can make arrangements for you.

Phnom Penh: 

Phnom Penh is also a good base for trips through the country as it is very central. Bus tickets to nearby locations are readily available for purchase at your guesthouse, departing to many different locations in Cambodia and neighboring countries at many times throughout the day. These tickets are generally very inexpensive and can range between $8-$12. Common destinations include Angkor Wat and Siem Reap (5-6 hours), the beaches of  Sihanoukville (four hours), Kampot (3 hours), and Battambang (5-6 hours).

YOUR STAY IN SIEM REAP 

All volunteers will stay at the volunteer guesthouse. The guesthouse is located just a 10 minutes from the happening down town area. It is one of the finest and most reasonably priced guesthouses in Siem Reap. It features many of the same luxuries as our guest houses in Phnom Penh. As in Phnom Pehn, most volunteers choose to share rooms, however, single rooms can be organized for those that desire.

MEALS

You will be provided with three meals a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner at each of our guest houses. Khmer cuisine shares many commonalities with the food of neighboring Thailand and Vietnam and commonly contains rice, vegetables, or noodles. The kitchens are open from 6:00AM to 9:00PM and there are no restrictions on which selections can be chosen. Breakfast typically includes coffee, tea, and juice with bread or eggs.   Lunch and dinner meals typically consist of rice, noodles, soup, vegetables, beef, fish, pork and fruit.  If your workplace is not close to guesthouse you also can ask the guesthouse to pack a lunch for you.
